Jerry Dale Childers was born on March 15, 1942 to Clyde Harmon Childers and
Jewel (Springwater) Childers of Gans, Oklahoma. He departed this life on
Sunday, January 22, 2017. He lived in Tuckerman, Arkansas since 1989 and was
a member of the Tuckerman Church of Christ.
Mr. Childers was a retired math teacher having his last assignment at ASU
Newport. While there, he developed heart trouble and was forced to stop
working in 1992.
He was a master of playing scientific checkers having won numerous trophies
and titles in state, regional, national and international competitions. His
crowning achievement at this hobby was winning a world championship in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy, his parents and two older
sisters Jewel Dean Dalton of Gans, Oklahoma and Norma Jean Foyil of Upland,
California.
His survivors include two younger sisters, Kay Green of Harrah, Oklahoma and
Carolyn Hollis of Choctaw, Oklahoma; two sons, Kevin Dale Childers of Fort
Smith, Arkansas and Shaun David Childers of Frisco, Texas, along with two
grandchildren, Jackson and Addison also of Frisco, Texas. He left behind
several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the
Tuckerman Church of Christ in Tuckerman, Arkansas, with Bro. J.R. Rosado
officiating. Interment to follow at Fleetwood Cemetery in Muldrow, Oklahoma.

He won many tournaments as Illinois Open 1994 and 101 in 2005.
